Midnight Alibi

Midnight Alibi / Ranks

The detective ladder

Eighteen ranks, from Clue Hunter to Baker Street Detective. Every case you close earns rank points, and every promotion opens something new: a level, a challenge or a look for your desk.

Rank points

Harder cases count for more

A case earns its points only on its first solve without a wrong accusation. Harder levels earn more, and each answer you reveal takes 1 off (a solved case always earns at least 1). A clean solve (no hints and no nudges) adds a point, and so does a challenge you meet on it. Challenges count only on the solve that earns a case’s points, and a replay of a case that has already earned them earns nothing.

0After a wrong accusation on a replay

Be sure before you accuse. Accuse shows the suspect your board places at the scene and asks before naming them. If that suspect isn’t the killer, the telling ends without a verdict, and the killer stays hidden. A replay then tells the case again with new names and rooms, and it can still earn the points. A wrong accusation on that replay means the case earns nothing on the ladder, ever. You climb faster by playing well than by playing a lot.

Some ranks also need particular solves, such as Hard cases or challenges met, so every level and challenge counts toward the top. You climb the ranks in order, and your rank never drops. With Cloud Sync, your rank comes back on your other devices of the same kind: Android with Google Play Games, iPhone and iPad with Game Center.
